Hello. I participated in an anti-war demonstration at Oizumi Park. I also gave a speech and said, “Many people take it for granted that women have to give birth with an aching stomach, and few people talk about the difficulties of pregnancy and childbirth. I have a child who is almost two years old myself, and I will not let war take the child I went through such a hard time to give birth and raise! Even one year olds understand everything adults are saying. Children see everything adults are doing and the direction society is heading. So we adults must show them that we will never let war happen!” I appealed to them.
And I would like to share with you a wonderful speech given by a citizen who is over 90 years old.
The war before the war killed all the rambunctious boys in the neighborhood. When I sent them off, all I could give them was a dried-up sweet potato. There are no winners in war. Houses are burned by missiles, people lose their loved ones. No one is happy about winning.” He also said, “War is not possible unless the people cooperate, so let’s all go together against it!” He said.
I was really happy to see such cool seniors in Nerima Ward. I’ll do my best to follow suit!
